16 January 2012
For Immediate Release
Ontario, Canada

In 2011, Top Paintball Sniper went through a development phase which incorporated expansion into the United States, consistency issues, stage refinement as well as media backlash. We’ve considered all the knowledge gathered from these experiences as lessons learned and have spent the 2011-2012 off season (read – winter) planning out a new way to bring the competitions to the players. We are still working out all the details and we hope to have a finalized schedule by the end of March or early April 2012.

In the interest of maintaining transparency in our intentions, we would like to share our development plan with those that matter – the competitors. Please take note that we are working as quickly as possible to release the new rules, and will have them up around the same time we finalize the schedule!

Phase I: make it easier to participate
In the interest of making Top Paintball Sniper more accessible, we are currently in the process of working with our sponsors in linking the competition series to Big Games held throughout Canada and the United States. The goal is to have Top Paintball Sniper set up during the event as an attraction, allowing any participant in the big game a chance to compete at any time throughout the day. The Top Paintball Sniper Alley will feature 3-5 stages (depending on size of event and location) and will be a pay-per-attempt style; this will allow all competitors to place their total score as well as individual stage scores on the day’s scoreboard. Attempts are unlimited and if a competitor chooses to try it again, the better of their scores will appear on the scoreboards. At the end of the event day, the competitors that have met or surpassed the pre-established total score threshold (being determined at this time and will be included in the rules when released) will be invited to participate in the final challenge held at the host field either same day or on the next morning depending on the event duration.
Also, in order to make it easier to participate, real world paintball requirements will be introduced into the rules: these will include a 280 FPS limit (dropped from our current 300 FPS limit), paintball goggles to be worn while shooting (competitors will have to wear full face paintball protection as opposed to shooting glasses/ballistic glasses), adjusted distances to real world encounter distances and situations, etc.

Phase II: make it less expensive to participate
As we are moving to a pay-per-attempt structure, competitors will be able to purchase participation tickets at the Top Paintball Sniper registration area, this ticket will also be the competitors scorecard for the attempt. At this time we are working with host fields and our sponsors to work out the best price structure possible.
We have also eliminated the cash prize from the competition series. At the time it was hoped that the cash prize would be incentive to competitors, instead we are currently working with our sponsors to build a prize pool from which prizes will be drawn and brought to the events. Keep an eye out on the schedule where we will announce the prize packages on the event details.

More details will follow as they firm up, keep an out on Facebook and on this website while we continue to make changes!
